IN COASTAL DEFENSE:
THE BAY OF VIGO

The high levels of contamination of Bay of Vigo, together with the alarming process of destruction of the landscape and the nature in their coast, constitute the reason that moved us to the elaboration of this work: a map that you will find at the end of these words.

The constant construction of fillings, sport, soft ports and other artificial modifications of the coast, are producing a serious damage to the delicate ecological balance of Ría, and therefore they mean (of a already evident way) the destruction of our main natural resource: the marisquera and fishing wealth of the Sea of Vigo. A common patrimony that we are putting in serious danger, in its totality, for the first time in our history.

Also they mean, actually, the privatization of our coast, because they are snatching to the citizenship spaces of leisure and nature that by law belong to him.

The immense majority of these constructions is to the service of great personal companies (or multinationals) whose only aim is to obtain the greater possible profit, and that they will not doubt in closing his doors (leaving workers and workers, wharves and fillings) when it agrees to his interests.

The Plan of Uses elaborated by the Harbor Authority of Vigo, tries to consecrate how arrangement criterion, to consider all Ría like a port area of special enterprise interest (commercial, industrial and real estate), ignoring its ecological wealth and diminishing the importance of communal property that it supposes his biodiversity, including as aggressive projects as the extension of the filling of Bouzas, the plan of the port of Vigo, the filling of Pescanova in Teis, the filling of Electrical Street cars in Rande or the sport port of Massó, in Cangas among others.

If all this were not enough we must add that Vigo, the city more populated with Galicia, and the twenty of municipalities that surround it drew in their general plans, just approved or in transaction, the construction of 220,000 houses to lodge the 859,000 inhabitants before year 2020. An authentic aberration in Ría in that today we coexisted 530,000 people and in that there are 56,833 empty floors.

Rather, they are 15 black points and a blue point: ground zero

Ground zero is the sea, the water, which truely we called Bays. An alive being who barks with the rate of the heart of the Universe. You do not let visit this Ground zero because in you will see as it breathes, as one moves, as it beats and as one renews.
